The story behind the name – Dhruvees

Have you ever noticed that bright, brilliant twinkling star in the sky? It is always close to the moon and you can easily spot it on a clear night. It is the North Star. It is named so because it lies directly overhead when viewed from many parts of the planet.
This star has great significance in Japanese, Greek, Hawaiian and Indian culture. In Indian mythology, the pole star is called Dhruva and is based on the legend of a little prince behind it.

Darryn is an award-winning chef from New Zealand with more than 35 years international food & beverage experience in developing culinary and interior design concepts along with master planning kitchens and operations for hotels & restaurants: Big & Small.

A native of Colombo in Sri Lanka, Chef Emal has worked with luxury ​hotel brands like the Hilton and Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts as a Chef and​ More recently with Waters Edge in Colombo, heading the Asian kitchen.
​He brings a wealth of experience in the Specialties of Sri Lankan and ​Peranakan Cuisine along with expertise in pastries and breads.​​
